If you have read any of the articles on this site, you already know what we are all about, but you may be wondering what this “Please Support Us” ad is about, we know this because in all likelihood you clicked it to get here!
OK we can do this a couple of ways, hard sell, heart-strings or guilt trip, but then we thought, hey, let’s just be completely honest, which in actual fact was the only way we were going to do it from the start because we don’t believe in all the other crap and life is already to complicated.
We started marketstartup for a number of reasons, including, nothing like it existed on the web, sure you could get snippets of information from numerous sources, you just had to spend some time with google, but nothing as comprehensive as market startup existed.
We wanted to give back to the market community, a community that has been kind to us over the years and which has enabled us to acquire a wealth of knowledge, and we also truly believe that sharing knowledge builds better communities.
We have worked very hard over the past few years, building, re-building, writing content (well most of it) designing, photographing, researching and reviewing. This is an ongoing task for us, it doesn’t stop once the site is live, we continue to write, research and review and the thing is we will continue to do so even if we receive no support, as we truly love what we do and the market industry in general.
When we started this site we decided that the last thing anyone needed were distractions from the content in the way of flashy ads. We also decided that if we were going to write, research and review, then we never wanted to put ourselves in a position that would necessitate us to temper our opinion in any way, hence we are not affiliated with any business, association, federation, government department or private sponsor, we are free to write what we want, to have an opinion and to criticize where necessary, and we will always maintain that independence.
As a result we spend a great deal of our time, improving, maintaining, updating, generating content and hosting this site and our twitter and facebook pages, in an effort to keep the market community informed, and keep this site as fresh as we can, and to continue to improve and expand in the future.
So lets “cut to the chase”
We have never asked for support from the market community, and it was not our intention to do so, however, after many “discussions” we have decided to give people the option of donating to us should they be in a position to do so. What we mean is that if you are just starting out and don’t have little money, use it to get your business going, don’t give it to us, reason, once you are a success, you can afford to give us more! (just kidding)
They say we are supposed to tell you what we will use the money for, easy, “A new car!” NOT, To cover hosting, site updates, software purchases, phone, fax and internet costs, to name but a few of the ongoing costs associated with keeping this site live and up to date.
So, if this site has helped you in anyway, you find it a valuable resource, or it has genuinely assisted you on your journey, we would really appreciate it if you could support us with a donation, it doesn’t hurt, you just have to press the button below and follow the instructions.
That’s it, as we said no guilt trips, if you can’t afford it, dont, but if you can all donations will be most gratefully received.
